Perhaps you know the room. Perhaps you have another print. Help make the next step reproducible.
What makes a useful lead
- The case title and the detail you recognize.
- A source others can inspect: a stable link, publication title and page, archive name and reference, or a description of an item you hold.
- What the source establishes, and what you are inferring from it.
- How you would like to be credited, or whether you prefer to remain unnamed.
A resemblance is welcome as a lead. Please label it as one. A matching window, room plan, or dated second view helps us move beyond resemblance.
Before sending material
Please send only material you have the right to share. Avoid private contact details, sensitive personal information, and full private email chains. A short description and a repository link are usually the best starting point.
Sending a clue does not automatically give permission to publish an attachment or your name. We will agree on credit and check the evidence before incorporating it. Responses depend on available research time.
Corrections are evidence too
Tell us which claim needs correcting and point us to the source. Substantive changes remain visible in the article’s dated update history.
